The month of November 2023 with our General Meeting assembly.

Embracing Progress and Community in the Heart of Wings to Fly

November 2023 marked a significant milestone for the Wings to Fly Initiative, a beacon of hope and empowerment for the refugee community. As we concluded this month, our General Meeting Assembly stood as a testament to our unwavering commitment and the remarkable journey we have embarked upon together.

Reflecting on Our Growth and Development

In the past year, Wings to Fly has experienced phenomenal growth. Our journey from a fledgling organization to a formidable force in community development is not just a story of numbers and initiatives; it’s a narrative of resilience, perseverance, and collective effort.

Our organization has expanded in size, scope, and capacity. This growth is not merely in the services we offer but also in the depth of our impact. Our initiatives like the Digital Train for Resilience, Thrive with Creme, and Tailoring projects have been instrumental in this expansion. These programs are not just initiatives; they are lifelines that connect us to those in need and platforms that enable us to reach new heights.

Strengthening Partnerships and Membership

This year, we also saw an increase in our membership, a clear indicator of the trust and belief in our mission. Our partnership with esteemed organizations like Cohere has been a cornerstone of our success. These collaborations are not just support mechanisms; they are alliances that strengthen our resolve and capabilities.

Financial Stability and Impact

Our financial review during the assembly brought to light the stability and effective management of our budget. We have successfully auto-funded two of our key initiatives while maintaining our service levels. The meticulous planning and management of our finances have enabled us to reach 249 beneficiaries across the Brisla, Slp, and Grassroot projects.

Special thanks to our partners Wearecohere, reframe, and Darkhan for their support in our ongoing SLP project and the Grassroot Education project. Their contributions have been pivotal in sustaining our efforts and expanding our reach.

Acknowledging Our Supporters

Our progress would not have been possible without the unwavering support of individuals like Hans Van Bergen & Frans Kriger, and dedicated trainers like Ordiya Osman and David Bahezire. Their guidance in community development and organization management has been invaluable.

Looking Forward

As we step into the future, we are filled with optimism and determination. The Wings to Fly Initiative is more than an organization; it’s a movement—a collective effort to make a difference. Our motto, “Learn, Engage and Transform,” is not just a statement; it’s a call to action.

We invite you, our readers and supporters, to join us in this journey. Together, we can continue to make strides in empowering the lives of young refugees in Kakuma refugee camp. Your involvement can be the catalyst for change and the hope for a better tomorrow.

In Conclusion

November 2023 was not just another month for Wings to Fly; it was a reaffirmation of our goals, our values, and our commitment to those we serve. We look forward to continuing this journey, hand in hand with you, making each step count towards a brighter, more inclusive future.
